Camila Rodríguez Rincón

//Visual artist

//El Boga residency scholarship winner march 2025

Camila Rodríguez Rincón is a Colombian visual artist whose work is nourished by biology and music, disciplines that have been present throughout her career. She is currently studying for a master's degree in Museology and Heritage Management. Nature has always been the source of inspiration for her art. Her observation and contemplation of the natural environment are the pillars on which she builds her work, which seeks to address issues such as the conservation and care of nature, and to reflect on our relationship with the world we live in and share.

The artist firmly believes in the transformative power of art as a tool for environmental education. Driven by a deep passion for the conservation of Colombia's fauna and flora, Camila has channelled this commitment into various projects, both artistic and educational, that seek to generate social and environmental awareness. She has led educational programmes in iconic locations such as the National Museum of Colombia and the Botanical Gardens of Bogotá, spreading the message of the importance of protecting biodiversity, the recovery of ancestral knowledge and the strengthening of the indigenous traditions of our country.

Residency at Casa Taller El Boga

During her residency at Casa Taller El Boga, Camila will undertake a creative and research project with the aim of raising awareness and visibility of the native plants of the region. These species, fundamental to the construction of the culture, traditions and knowledge of the Momposino community, will be the central focus of her work. In addition, the artist wishes to recover the memory of one of the most significant painters of the Royal Botanical Expedition of the New Kingdom of Granada, originally from Santa Cruz de Mompox, to pay tribute to the naturalist vocation of the territory through botanical illustration.
