Leinad was born in Barranquilla and is a graduate of Fiction Directing from the International Film and TV School of San Antonio de los Baños, EICTV Cuba, and experimental training at the Black Maria Film School. His films have won more than 15 national and international awards and screened at different festivals such as TIFF Tirana International Film Festival (OSCAR® qualifying), Visions du reél Nyon International Film Festival (OSCAR® qualifying), Bogoshorts Film Festival (OSCAR® qualifying), Panorama Colombia Berlin, Vancouver Latino Film Festival, Curtacinema International Film Festival of Rio de Janeiro, Shorts Mexico, SPHERE World Cinema Carnival, VGIK of Russia, Cinetoro Experimental Film Festival among other competitive venues in France, India, Italy, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil among others. He is currently the coordinator and programmer of the Cineclub MIOPÍA of the Universidad del Norte de Barranquilla, and writes and prepares narrative and experimental projects with international funding from the Norwegian Embassy in Cuba and the Mayor's Office of Barranquilla.
El Boga Residency
Leinad's residency proposal is entitled, "Radicales libres, Una apuesta a la experimentación cinematográfica comunitaria" (Free radicals, a commitment to community film experimentation). It is a filmmaking workshop with the local community, whose central axis is memory as the construction of an audiovisual identity, based on activities linked to experimentation, training and film appreciation, seeking to highlight and contribute to the film heritage of Mompox.
