María José Ojeda Franco

Writer and yogi

Fellow, Yoga Retreat July 25-29 2022

/// June-July 2022

I trained, on the one hand, as a writer with an option in history at the Universidad de los Andes and, on the other hand, as a Vinyasa yoga instructor at Akasha Yoga School. I will soon be a student of the MA in Creative Writing at the Caro y Cuervo Institute. I consider yoga, reading and writing to be artistic and creative processes that seek to establish a relationship between the body and the mind, the spiritual and the material, the practical and the theoretical. For this reason, I am committed to practice, share and teach these practices through classes and workshops that invite healing, self-knowledge and the exaltation of identity.

El Boga Residency

During the residency at El Boga Majo laid the foundations of a future ongoing yoga offer in Mompox provided by and for locals. My purpose, then, will be to carry out fieldwork that will identify future yoga practitioners and trainers and, through classes and workshops, share with them a basic knowledge of asana, breathing, meditation and yoga philosophy. In this way, they will be able to continue with a complete and safe personal practice and, if they wish, train to become eventual instructors. In parallel to this, I am interested in providing reading and creative writing spaces for different population groups.
