//March 2025 postponed to July

Carlos Garzón is a Colombian artist with a Master's Degree in Plastic and Visual Arts. He constantly moves between Bogotá and La Sabana Centro de Cundinamarca, a territory that has profoundly influenced his work. His conceptual interest revolves around the transformations of the landscape, architecture, displacement and the dynamics between the urban and the rural. Through sculpture, photography, installation, drawing and video, he reflects on how social and political structures affect the territory. His artistic development has been accompanied by teaching, which has allowed him to integrate collaborative processes into his work, which seek to actively involve the community in the territory. In his artistic research, he has incorporated walking and cartography as gestures that connect the body with the territory. His most recent work, centred on the Bogotá and de la Plata rivers, explores the collective narratives of the landscape, inviting reflection on the memory and resistance of nature in urbanised territories.
Residency in El Boga
During his stay in Santa Cruz de Mompox, Carlos will focus his initial exploration on the historical archive, investigating the relationship of the population with the Magdalena River. Through the act of walking and cartographic recording, the interactions between nature, architecture and the river will be documented. This process will allow for the collection of material objects for the creation of an artistic archive that delves into these relationships through the installation. In addition, activities will be carried out with the community, reflecting on gastronomy, architecture and cartography as collective tools for mapping the historical connection with the territory.
