Photo Anita Kirppis
Mirjam is an artist and researcher currently based in Zurich, Switzerland. She lived in Vilnius, Lithuania from 2001 to 2009. She has a degree in photography and trans-disciplinarity in the arts and works as a photography teacher. Since 2010, she has been researching cumbia in Latin America. She is the author and editor of the publication series Sonidero City. Mirjam has participated in numerous exhibitions internationally. She studies translation.
El Boga Residency
During her residency, Mirjam seeks to deepen and expand her research on Cumbia in the Mompox region, visit other villages and meet musicians. Mirjam always returns with the product of her work, the edited book, to the places of research to present it together with the people who were part of the book. Therefore, the photographer will present her book, Sobre el Rio (PASSAGE) in Mompox in collaboration with the local people she met during its production.
