Estefanía Sáenz Medina

Film-maker// Host Resident

Born in Armenia, Quindío, Estefanía Sáenz is a filmmaker, cultural manager and passionate film club leader. She studied film at the Universidad Central and works in the development of creative and artistic projects with social impact, promoting social inclusion, cultural exchange, environmental education and gender equality. Estefanía holds a scholarship on Cultural Management Training Cycle focused on the ideation and creation of self-managed spaces (2022), led by the Corporación La Astilla en el Ojo. She completed a Diploma in Governance and Cultural Management (2023) offered by the Universidad Nacional Pedagógica and the Colombian Ministry of Cultures.

She has experience in the creation of non-fiction audiovisual content and the editing of her most recent short documentaries: 'La Cinco', 'Como Extraños' and 'Mompox, cine y memoria'.

El Boga Residence

Since January 2023, Estefanía has been the Resident Host at El Boga, leading the Children's Film Club and coordinating multiple activities and events held at the cultural centre, such as the Children's Seedbed, the Children's Reading Club and workshops offered by the residents.

Estefania has strengthened El Boga's relationship with the local community and has also created new links with the surrounding villages and municipalities of Mompos, increasing the reach and impact of the foundation in the region.

In addition to this, Estefanía is the person you can count on if you need advice, a local contact, a key place or a call for audiences in Mompox.

Her project entitled Interpretation of the Mompox territory through oral and written riverside literature, aims to explore the various trades, traditions, biodiversity and history of Mompox, told from the oral and written tradition of the Momposinos and Momposinas in their daily lives and bibliography.
