Originally from Armenia, Quindío, Estefanía Sáenz is a filmmaker, cultural manager and passionate film club member. She studied Film at the Central University of Bogotá and works on the development of creative and artistic projects with a social impact, promoting social inclusion, cultural exchange, environmental education and gender equality. She completed the Training Cycle in Cultural Management focused on the ideation and creation of self-managed spaces (2022) by the La Astilla en el Ojo Corporation, the Diploma in Governance and Cultural Management (2023) by the National Pedagogical University and the Ministry of Cultures of Colombia and the course in Cultural Management (2024) by the Hay Festival Latam and Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial.
She has experience in the creation of non-fiction audiovisual content and the editing of her most recent documentary short films: ‘La Cinco’ (2022), ‘Como Extraños’ (2023) and ‘Mompox, cine y memoria’ (2024). She is currently developing a new documentary called Mompox: ‘Understanding the commons’ (2027).
El Boga Residency
Since January 2023, Estefanía has been the Resident Host of El Boga, standing out for her leadership of the El Boga Film Club and her coordination of multiple activities and events held at the centre, such as the Festival of Traditional Games in Loma de Simón, Children's Seedbed, Children's Reading Club and workshops offered by the residents.
Estefanía has strengthened El Boga's relationship with the local community and has also created new links with the villages and municipalities surrounding Mompós, consolidating the scope and impact of the foundation in the region.
