Sara studies social and cultural anthropology at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. She has previously studied anthropology, art history and philosophy at the University of Amsterdam, and has experience working on communal art projects. In this work she developed an interest in art projects with a social and politically engaged emphasis. Her current interests lie in visual anthropology, and the combination of social studies and artistic expressions. Coming from a Colombian-Dutch family, throughout her academic career she has had a strong interest in Latin America and Colombia in particular.
El Boga Residency
During her residency at El Boga, Sara will be conducting research on the construction of narratives of memory in Mompox. Specifically, Sara is interested in how these narratives interact and are constructed through creative practices and material culture. During her residency, she aims to create a photographic research project in collaboration with the people of Mompox.
