//Painter and illustrator

Carmine (Bogotá, 1981) lives alternately between Colombia and France. She currently has a studio in Paris. Before painting, she studied philology and languages at the National University of Colombia and conference interpreting and translation at the École Supérieure des Interprètes et Traducteurs in Paris. For several years (2022-2025), Carmine attended the Parisian workshop Savoir dessiner, where graduates of the Paris School of Fine Arts provide personalised guidance to those who wish to paint or draw. She also attended the workshop of painter Julien Spianti, from whom Carmine learned much of what she knows about oil painting technique. Since September 2025, she has been taking engraving classes with Florence Hinneburg at the Pajol workshop in Paris.
In 2021, she participated with the collective Autre Amérique Latine in a group exhibition and held her first solo exhibition of drawings at Les Carrieres. Since 2024, she has been a member of the artists' association d'Anvers aux Abbesses (professional artists in Paris), developing events, group exhibitions, conferences and studio visits with them. Carmine has also collaborated with the social sciences magazine Sensibilités with illustrations.
El Boga Residency
Artist statement: In my work, I translate new emotions from my perspective. I explore through painting and drawing with the intention of recognising and showing the beauty of people and nature. Through colour and light, the world appears in its symbolic exuberance: fire as an allegory of love, pain and the feelings we experience in intimacy, as well as feminine strength, closely related to nature. I seek to reflect beauty and show people in all their colours, creating a visual sensation of what moves life, in portraits of those who inhabit Colombia.
