Residency at El Boga

Juanita does not take a written script with her on her field trips; the spaces themselves guide her steps and gaze. She usually makes her journeys alone, as a sacred ritual of cyclical observation. With her camera, she captures the moments in which she feels or perceives that something latent around her crystallises upon contact with her mood and unconscious. The result of her journeys is a photographic archive accompanied by field notes and retrospective mapping that records her physical movement in space. However, her notion of journey includes not only physical movement in space but also mental, emotional, and intellectual movement in space-time.
