Born in Saint Astier, France, Françoise Audouin arrived in Colombia in 1982. She has worked for nearly thirty years as a preschool teacher at the Lycée Français Louis Pasteur in Bogotá and as a translator. After retiring from teaching, she enrolled in a Master's programme in Creative Writing at the National University in Bogotá and wrote a novel, Suave como la muerte (Soft as Death), which was published by Planeta in November 2020.
El Boga Residency
During her residency, Françoise will continue writing her current novel, a personal account rooted in a collective history that clarifies it without explaining it. The novel explores the ties that bind us to our family members and how, when we tell the story of our lives, our memory brings back memories, hides them or transforms them.
Françoise will host an intergenerational workshop for people interested in recounting episodes from their family history, moving from oral tradition to writing.
