//August 2025

María Andrea Rodríguez is a singer, multidisciplinary artist, and cultural manager born in Sincelejo. Her work intertwines music, the body, memory, and territory from a sensitive and critical perspective. Moving between opera, Caribbean music, and performance, she explores how art can be a place of transformation, dignity, and resistance.
El Boga Residency
During her residency at El Boga, María Andrea will develop Voces Femeninas de Mompox: Tradición y Memoria Sonora (Female Voices of Mompox: Tradition and Sound Memory), an artistic and research laboratory focused on the role of women in the traditional music of the Mompox region. Testimonies will be collected from artists about their relationship with singing, oral transmission, creative leadership and collective creation. The goal of this process is to develop tools and leave behind capacities that will enable the development of projects where the human voice is the centre of creation and performance. This entire journey will be documented as part of a book in progress, which weaves together artistic research, field stories and reflections on creation from the Caribbean, and which also nourishes the conceptual universe of Mi Natalidad, her first musical EP, which will be released soon. Maria Andrea is also the founder of Fundación El Caribe Hace País, a growing initiative that seeks to strengthen access to the arts in the Caribbean region and open spaces where creation, identity and community can come together through art.
