A multidisciplinary artist focusing on audiovisual experimentation, he began his career as a filmmaker in 2014 with his debut film Las moscas también duermen (Flies Also Sleep), a video acquired by the art collection of the Banco de la República de Colombia. He continues to direct and produce numerous short films, both fictional and experimental. Ricardo has managed to construct a distinctive language that is widely remembered. The results of his work oscillate between eschatology, violence, the sacred, erotic rawness, and autobiography to propose a particular surrealism. Postulating a unique working methodology. Muñoz explores various techniques without exhausting the achievements of any one of them. His projects range from urban art to sound experimentation, from drawing to animation, from screen printing to fanzines, from painting to sculpture, from performance to art direction, and vice versa.

He is interested in exploring associations between graphic languages with a strong anecdotal charge through humour, cynicism and allegorical deformation.

He studied at the Technological University of Pereira, the University of Pelotas, Brazil, and the National Internships of the Colombian Ministry of Culture under the tutelage of Juan Mejía and Maria Isabel Rueda. He is the director of the La Cuenca Pereira artist residency and was nominated for the XIII Luis Caballero Award, Colombia.

He lives and works in the mountains of Pereira, Colombia.

El Boga Residency

El ABC is a procedural project that allows the country to be mapped through drawing, in order to make an aesthetic approximation of the contexts of each region, as each one has its own particularities. It has previously been developed in cities such as Montería, Cartagena, Puerto Colombia, Pereira and Manizales, among others. Now a new chapter is being proposed in Mompox at the El Boga residence.
